Classroom Course Introduction
The First Aid at Work Requalification course is based on the approved standards of the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations and therefore all the skills are based upon the First Aid at Work manual.
To What Standard is the Qualification Delivered?
To the standard required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the workplace.
What will the Training Teach Me?
You will go over what was taught in the three day course such as the laws and regulations and what the aims and priorities of first aid are. You will also learn about the importance of performing site surveys, communication and delegation, transporting causalities, legal frameworks, record keeping and other vital information.
The illnesses and conditions you will be trained in treating and assisting with include:
Basic life support
Angina and heart attacks
Shock, electric shock and anaphylactic shock
Crush, bone, muscle and joint injuries
Burns, smoke inhalation and scolds
Diabetes, epilepsy, stroke
Compression, chain of survival, recovery position
Gas and chemicals
Spinal and head injuries
Recognising illness and infectious diseases
Heat and cold
Unconscious casualties and concussion
Who is the Training Aimed Towards?
The prerequisites of this course are all candidates must hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and undergone three days of training to achieve the certificate.
Will I Gain a Recognised Certificate?
Yes. The First Aid at Work Requalification course is in line with the standard required by the Health and Safety Executive for the workpalce. All delegates will be trained in accordance to the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations.
What is the Duration of the Training?
You will need to set aside two days to be trained on the First Aid at Work Requalification. You are able to attend one of the many training centres or request in-house training.
How is the First Aid Course Assessed?
All of the candidates are given tests in theory and practical aspects and will need to pass these tests to have their qualification in first aid renewed. You will be awarded with a First Aid at Work certificate that is valid for another three years.
How Will the Qualification Benefit My Employer?
Employers gain by having certified first aiders within their workforce to help with emergency situations. This goes to show you are working towards complying with the health and safety laws by providing adequate training and providing qualified first aiders.
Do you Offer a Shorter Workplace First Aid Course?
We offer the Emergency First Aid at Work training course for the Appointed Person. The training lasts for one day and the course is in line with the standard required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). This course will not renew your existing 'First Aid at Work' certificate, if you wish to renew your current certificate you will be required to attend the Requalification course.
