Classroom Course Introduction
The First Aid at Work course provides basic training and gives practical instruction on how to deal with a multitude of conditions which could be experienced in the workplace. The skills taught are taken directly from the First Aid training Manual so all the techniques are correct and can be used to help save lives and to treat conditions and injuries.
To What Standard is the First Aid Training Delivered?
The training is delivered to the standard required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to act as a fully qualified first aider in the workplace.
What Will the Course Teach Me?
The tutor will guide the delegates through many important topics but will start by introducing the aims and the priorities of First Aid and the laws and regulations which need to be followed. From there you will learn how to protect yourself and others from infection and how to recognise illness.
There are many types of conditions which are focused upon including:
Bone, muscle and joints
Smoke, chemicals and gas
The delegates are also taught how to keep records, work within the legal framework, basic life support and how to communicate and delegate.
Who is the Training Course Aimed Towards?
Anyone is able to take this course. All delegates will need to be able to carry out the practical aspects and therefore need to be free from any condition which may inhibit their learning and get in the way of passing the test.
Will I Gain a Recognised First Aid Certificate?
The First Aid at Work course certificate is in line with the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations 1981.
What is the Duration of the Training?
The course lasts for three days. You can choose where to have the training at one of the many training centres. If you have several delegates who require training you may prefer to have the course on-site for your convenience.
How Will It be Assessed?
Delegates are assessed in Practical and Theory aspects. If you are successful in passing the assessments you will be awarded with a First Aid at Work certificate which lasts for three years.
When Will My Certificate Expire?
In order to remain qualified and hold a valid certificate you will need to take the two day First Aid at Work Requalification course before your certificate expires.
How Can I Justify the Cost to My Employers?
It is necessary to have a first aider in your workplace and those trained can go on to becoming the approved person or assist in first aid as and when required.
What is the Benefit to My Employer?
Employers will benefit greatly by having employees who are trained in first aid and ready to help in emergency situations.
Do You Offer a More Basic First Aid Course?
If you are looking for a shorter course we recommend the Emergency First Aid at Work training. The course is designed to teach basic first aid for the workplace including CPR. The qualification is the minimum standard of fist aid training required for the workplace and will training you to the 'Appointed Person' standard. This course is suitable for low risk environments and for acting in the absence of a fully qualified first aider.
